Alpha Plus Heroes: Silo Public Schools

Katie-Brister-Silo-Heroes.jpg

Alpha Plus Celebrates Heroes in Oklahoma Schools with this memo from Katie Brister, Silo Early Childhood Principal to Facilitator Ron Brummett.

From Principal Brister:
Silo Early Childhood Second Grade Teachers (Mrs. Wright, Ms. Wake, Mrs. Bowen, and Mrs. McMichael) have adopted the Alpha Plus Math Curriculum with excitement! Just as with any new endeavor there have been challenges, but they have overcome those to the benefit of their students.

After establishing the instructional routine, then came the technology component since they share devices. Finally, they have implemented the remediation schedule with the help of a classroom aide, Ms. Hannah. They have also shared groups with our reading specialist’s pull-out program and have been able to ensure success for all students.

Ms. Wake said in the last grade-level meeting that, “I feel like I know where my kids actually are in math now!” Previously, we had the ability to progress monitor reading achievement with RSA funding, but not math. Teachers now feel they are better able to evaluate students’ math levels and instruct accordingly using the Alpha Plus curriculum and supplements.

We Use Data to Help Schools on the Way to an A!

Teachers and administrators can quickly and easily identify students who need more help learning the Oklahoma Academic Standards.

Alpha Plus pinpoints the SPECIFIC OAS objectives or "gaps" students have from previous years, then helps school teams address each objective throughout the year.

That is why Alpha Plus schools have OUTPERFORMED the state average every year of the A-F Report Cards.
